What we bring into our homes matters.
We look beyond how something looks. Materials, processing, certifications and unnecessary synthetics all matter when we decide what earns a place at AUREA.
Natural materials first.
We prioritise natural fibres: organic cotton, linen, wool, silk and hemp, where they make sense for the product and how it will be used.
We consider the fibre alongside its weight, texture and purpose. A material should earn its place through everyday comfort and usefulness—not simply through its name.
We avoid polyester, nylon, acrylic and other unnecessary synthetic fibres in everyday textiles when natural alternatives are available.
We also avoid harsh dyes, chlorine, unnecessary finishes and poorly explained treatments. We favour simpler materials, cleaner processing and clear information about how a product is made.
GOTS matters.
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is a recognised organic textile standard with requirements around processing and production.
It offers more meaningful information than a vague “organic” claim alone. For our first selection, it is the relevant certification we consider alongside the material and the original brand’s information—not a substitute for every other question.
The Aurea Standard.
AUREA curates. We do not manufacture every product we offer. Thoughtful selection means understanding what a piece is made from, what we know about its production and why it deserves a place in everyday life.
Materials
We consider fibre, weight, texture and everyday usefulness.
Processing
We look at the production information a brand can provide.
Certifications
We distinguish verified certifications from manufacturer claims.
Brand transparency
The original brand remains visible, and we explain why we selected it.
If we can’t explain why we selected it, it doesn’t belong at AUREA.
